Linkedin need to be self disrupted or be disrupted

I joined linkedin back in 2003. I love it to keep track of my professional connections and I use it a lot to connect people. My experience with it has decline over time. Now that linkedin is the reference in professional social networks, they are become lazy but my needs increase so I think like many, its time to encourage linkedin self disruption or helping them hanging themselves.

Why should linkedin be self-disrupted or disrupted?

  • UX sucks (basic ex: how to access all my emails???)
  • Searching isn't convenient -> I want google search convenience that's it.
  • linkedin email platform sucks so badly (why are they trying to lock me in) -> Linkedin you are not an email company, use a better platform at list (gmail) please.
  • Why do I have character limit size in contact email + I can't add links????
  • Google search were blocked (what were they seriously thinking, they can do a better work then google...be serious guys)
  • We need to search on how to create a blog post on linkedin, it should be obvious
  • Their jobs alerts are ridiculous (16 year experience - R&D machine learning, data-mining, entrepreneur), examples job match:
    • Software dev graduate ????
    • Data migration engineer MySQL, PHP ?????
    • IT analyst (graduate program) ^??^%$%#$
    • Junior windows developer #$%@#^^$^%#$%T@$@
    • Learning coordinator -> WOW???
  • You have to spam your network before been able to create your account -> SERIOUSLY ITS CRAZY
  • Mechanism to connect is not consistent...sometimes I can't set personal message before message is sent....I hate that.
  • Have you notice the list of relation profession (how they might know you) isn't sorted by last job when you connect.....isn't that crazy. Do they have UX at linkedin???
  • Integration with blogspot sucks....It doesn't put post title and leave only the blog title and it can't be edited. Its just bad.
  • We can't share slideshares slides outside linkedin...you can't force people to stay guys!

I seriously doubt Linkedin employee eat their own food otherwise they wouldn't be doing average work like this. Please linkedin employee, do something before someone disrupt your business. I would love to see facebook entering this field to make Linkedin make major UX improvements.

How to disrupt google AdWords PPC? Why AdWords will never move from PPC to PProiC?

Everyone knows that google milk cow is AdWords and that the best way to attract customers is is help them finding you. AdWords business model is quite simple: Pay Per Click (PPC). But what about ROI?
Most business care about paying customer and don't want to wast money on others no?
As mentioned on AdWords FAQ, ROI is simple to compute : (Revenue - Cost) / Cost = ROI.
Why AdWords nor Google Analytics doesn't allow you to PProiC easily (Pay Per ROI Click)?
Because you are selling a brand, cost is hard to measure, we can't measure the exact ROI, blablabla....
The truth is that if most companies were able to measure real PPC easily, they will stop using standard PPC because its simply too expensive. Let's take an example: 1$/click, 8266 clicks, 39 sales ->  211.95$/sales. If your average sales is 150$/click, you are loosing 61.95$/click and need to pump more money into your business?
Why do you think so many companies are doing email marketing with mailchimp or marketo or try to optimize their campaigns with acquisio? They want positive ROI/limit the dilution of their marging and are just desperately looking for PPC alternative like ROI dashboard but who can compete free Google Analytics, QMining?
PPC are great solutions to increase sales but also a powerful tool to kill many companies who are looking for better tool to reach their audience. Google has to be disrupted but who is strong enough to take that challenge...
Why Google might never move to PProiC? Because it will never go against its core business model, would you? no one does until they face the wall like Microsoft did last month.

Double disruption?

I am trying to find a way to double disrupt an industry. What does that mean?
Every companies are trying to create barrier of entries. Here are common way to create barriers:
  • Just be faster
  • IP protections
  • Be first, first in a channel with exclusivity if possible
  • Pricing (cheaper)
  • Domain knowledge
  • Expertise
  • Network
  • ...

Competing in some tech industries these days is insanely hard do to due to way lower level of barrier of entry. In many cases, the only barriers is having a laptop, dev expertise and spare time. Network and channel is the biggest barrier of entry if you are competing in that domain which explain why incubators are so powerful tool.

Let's take an example: you are trying to disrupt an industry were most competitors are VC founded, what can you do?

The most powerful strategy is to use there advantages against them. In this example by using an alternative founding strategy that will create a barrier of entry on the monetization (can't compete pricing in the long run).

If you want to succeed, you have to play the game. Its the jungle out there, harm yourself and use the chest strategy, try to move first, get momentum (users) and create barriers of entries along the way.
